  I admire the hell out of Mitsubishi. They are such a scrappy company with a serious racing history. No other automaker can match Mitsubishi’s international recognition for outright tenacity wherever they compete. For those of you who are unaware, Mitsubishi has more Dakar Rally (the most challenging automotive race - ever - period!) wins than any other automaker. They also have an excellent win record in the World Rally Championship.

  For the uninitiated, rally racing is one of the most arduous types of road racing. Imagine roads covered in gravel, tarmac, snow, ice, mud, dirt, sand and combinations thereof in which you must drive as FAST AS YOU CAN! Very few automakers can build reliable and safe cars that can handle these courses with any alacrity. Fewer still can construct a factory built automobile that can.

  Rally racing is one of the most macho displays of automotive daring-do… Love it!

  The original Mitsubishi Lancer was converted into a fire-breathing, turbocharged, all-wheel-drive animal specifically for this challenge – and it did well. Built in Japan since 1992, the United States finally got a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution in 2005. This was a direct response to the popularity of the Subaru WRX (the Evo’s main competition and sworn enemy). Since then, we have had a vehicle that (despite its economy car origins) competes with some of the top sports cars built.

  自1992年日本开始制造它,直到2005年美国才有得到三菱Lancer EVO。这是一个对斯巴鲁WRX(EVO的主要竞争对手和死敌)的一个直接回应。自那以来,我们有了一辆可以和一些顶级跑车竞争的车型,不管它只是一辆经济型轿车的出身。
